Kidsfirst Halswell is a purpose-built kindergarten, with large learning spaces both inside and out.  We value and encourage the children's interactions with nature and our wide open spaces provide the opportunities for children to challenge and grow their physical capabilities.

We change, adapt and move equipment and resources on a regular basis to meet and challenge the individual needs of all children. Inside, we create areas where children and teachers can explore and discover together, solving problems, and learning to persist and not give up. At Kidsfirst Halswell your child will learn to ask questions about their world, and start to make sense of their place in it.

Our teaching team  intentionally plan a programme which provides experiences that meet the learning needs of all of our children. Whānau and tamariki are encouraged to contribute to the planning process, giving a sense of ownership and a voice.  We support children’s learning, their interests, skills and abilities and acknowledge and value every person in our kindergarten as a teacher and learner.

You're always welcome here! We value the relationships we build with our whānau/families, and look forward to making new connections, embracing the multiculturalism and diversity of our community.    We love it when family/ whānau to visit and take part in their child’s kindergarten day, sharing their skills, languages and culture too - enriching our programme.

We make regular use of the library with walks to Te Hāpua, and we have strong connections with our local schools – supporting the transition to school for you and your child.

We would recommend that you enrol initially for at least two full days – building up to five days at your child's pace.  This gives our teachers time to get to know your child and gives some consistency around supporting their learning.

Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time, we’ll show you around and make you welcome!
